The New York Yankees release Dustin Ackley

The New York Yankees have released 28-year old lefty swinging 1B/2B/OF Dustin Ackley.  Ackley played in 28 games for the Yankees last year and he was 9 for 61 (.148 avg, .390 OPS) with 6 runs scored, 0 homers and 4 RBI.  Ackley played in 51 games in his two years with the Yankees and he was 24 of 113 (.212 avg, .664 OPS) with 12 runs scored, 4 homers and 15 RBI.  Ackley had a hard time staying healthy with the Yankees.  That being said, he should have little problem finding a new team over the winter.  The Yankees won’t miss Ackley at all moving forward.
